fuel filter question

I have a 1991 notchback, i went to replace the fuel filter. But then when I went to unplug the fuel pump switch, I found it mounted on the back wall in the trunk, and it wasnt connected to anything. My question is what other ways can i relieve the pressure on the system

I've changed mine twice, all I did was carefully remove the clips on the fuel filter, catch the fuel with a rag, put the new filter on and your done. Never worried about relieving pressure, besides letting the car set maybe overnight.

Yeah, if it sits a while most all of the pressure will be gone...otherwise, a little fuel spray never hurt anyone.
