Fuel Gauge Wiring?

Hey guys, brand new to the board and just bought a 84 turbo stang with an 86 302 in it, and I am desperately in need of some knowledge. When I got the car it had autometer gauges in it for oil pressure, voltage, and water temp, and none of the stock gauges. My question is, the car came with a fuel gauge, how do I hook this thing up? where are the wires and all that jazz? Thanks in advance for any information.

Most guages work by having 12 volts applied on one side, and a device in the sending unit changing the resistance to ground. With a gas gauge, the sending unit has a float in it, and as it goes up and down, it changes the the resistance, and moves the guage.

You need to see if you have the 12 volts to the guage, and if so, grounding the wire on the other side of the guafe, should move the gauge.
