Hi everyone this is weird, I am working with a 2001 mustang 3.8. the car runs great but sometimes it wont start. fuel pump works its actually new along with the filter but when it does not start if i drain the fuel rail it will fire right up!??? Any ideas??

If i were you id try to pin point the issue that way you could troubleshoot the issue more.
id try this: put a cup and rag under the fuel rail(gas will leak) and unscrew the bolt/nut slightly that connects the rail to the fuel line and put the car on ign only and if there is gas in the cup then its the rail should be good and then continue with the injectors.
But then again it might not be a fueling issue starter/spark/battery
