Fuel Pressure questions

Howdy! I may or may not have a problem that is why I am posting to get input from all of you that may have experienced this issue. forgive my typos, poor grammar and typing.

Most of my mods are in my Sig I think. Let me know if any other information is needed to answer the question.

In a nut shell, I have a P1SC Procharger installed and seeing about 4.5psi of boost. I am not getting more boost due to ported heads and intake and larger MAF and cam/rockers etc. I have a Reichard Racing pulley on the way recommended by them so I should get up to about 8-10psi or so.

I have a Procharger adj. FMU, an intank 255lph Walbro fuel pump and an inline 255lph Walbro fuel pump. I am using 36lbs. injectors. I have dialed in my idle etc. using a Tweecer. I have a high output alternator so my voltage on my autometer gauge is just over 14 volts. I have not installed my stereo equip back in after relocating the battery to the trunk. I imagine that volt. will drop some once I get that installed. Anyway ...

The issue or question is one of fuel pressure. I adjusted my Kirban AFPR to aboout 39psi prior to the 2nd fuel pump install. After wiring the second fuel pump I had a fuel pressure of about 56psi. I have been able to adj. it down to about 50psi and it seems to stay right there at idle. When I apply the throttle it seems to drop down a few psi around 45-47psi.

My question is ... Is this a normal pressure to have with my setup as far as the extra fuel pump and FMU? I am concerned a lil bit because it drops slightly. It seems to stay right there even when I get into the 4psi of boost. I dont have any detonation problems. I browsed around and 36lbs injectors seem to be plenty for my application and the FMU is insurance. According to what I have read the 36lbs inj. will support up to 500hp at 50psi. I dont think HP wise I will even be close to 500 hp so I am sure I have plenty of fuel and plenty of inj.

Do any of you, based on your experience and readings, think I should be worried about the higher fuel pressure? Should it be at 40psi or so at idle and then go up gradually from there? Any advice or comments that might point me in the right direction would be helpful. I am trying to learn to tune every thing myself as this is the reason I got into all this to start with, LOL.

By the way, all modifications except the gears, camshaft and subframe welding I have done myself. Some of it I was able to do thanks to posting on this site and others. Thanks to all the Stangers out there that do not mind passing on what they know to help someone that is still learning.

Thanks,

That pressure will most likely be a little high. Make sure your gauge is working properly. You could try installing a mechanical gauge on the fuel rail just to check things out. You will have to put the car on the dyno in order to see what your air fuel ratio is. That pressure may work fine? You could always decrease the duty cycle of the injectors with the Tweecer if you can't lower the pressure otherwise.
