I read in this Ford EFI Tuning book about how to check to hear if the fuel pump is working. I do not have the book with me, so I am sorry if I cannot describe it excatly in the this book. I am having a some problems with hesitation and bucking so I am checking my fuel system. I have checked my injectors and they are fine. Now to the fuel pump, this book says in order to find out if the fuel pump is working properly you can do the Key On Ignition Off and that you should be able to hear it I think come on for about 2 seconds. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Well I do hear a sound for about 2 seconds when I do this but I am just not sure if it is the fuel pump that I am hearing. It sounds like a hydraulic lift (like when you lift the trunk of your car) it is a sound like that. My question then, is that the fuel pump I am hearing?

Yup, definatly the fuel pump. Mine is getting so weak that the sound gets higher or lower as I put on turn signals or brake. The wires are all in the same harnes, and it gets tied up with the lights back there. I've tried figuring them out to see if i can run a constant power, or maybe a switch to eliminate that, but it doesn't seem so yet.

Another way to listen for it and see if that's what it is is to fold down your back seat, turn down the radio, mute your exhaust, and drive around like that. you should hear it somewhat. it'll almost sound like a chevy truck.
