ok so im having some problems with my fuel pump i think in my 89 gt. 6 months ago i shut car off at sotre, came back out to start car and the fuel pump wouldnt prime. after 15 minutes of waiting for a ride the fuel kicked on and the car ran good until yesterday. I was driving to work and lost fuel. Same thing. Fuel pump wont kick on or prime. So after work yesterday tried to start car. samething. no priming. i took the FP relay from brothers 89 put it and started right up. As i started to sigh in relief it wasnt the FP itselft it died and wouldnt start. i tested the inertia switch. its got 12v at both wires. There was really anything else i could check since the car was sitting in a parking lot. As i started to think who to call to trailer the car i thought i would turn the key one more time. Well it started, ran for 5 minutes. Then i told my brother to quick get in his truck and follow. Made it home fine. Got car in garage. fired it up and shut it off about 5 times with no issues. I was hoping it wouldnt start at all yesterday so the problem wouldnt turn into a mystery like it has. Could this be the FP starting to go? My dad thought maybe the brushes wearing out and was getting just enough contact to start 98 percent of the time. He thought this was the case in the past with several other FP he has replaced over the years. I hope its FP so i can just get in there and replace it. Any tips on where to find this problem when its not acting up??
