the stock one from your local auto store or just pick up and aftermarket performance standard 302 from summit or jegs It all depends on what your trying to do I have a slightly modified 302 and she seems so do alright w/ stocker although I not taking it to the track either. 0-60 under 6 sec no fuel starvation
Hey thanks for the replies, now you say no fuel starvation..... This leads me to something i was thinking of a while back. I had posted about my car cutting out at about 3000 RPM at about 80 MPH in fourth gear and somebody mentioned fuel starvation. He thought i should replace the fuel filter, and clean it all out. Well now the the fuel pump is out, do you think that could have actually been early signs of the fuel pump going out?

Yes, certainly.
Could also be pinholes in the fuel line (rubber or steel) which would lessen the pumps drawing power.
Could also be a dirty carb (needing rebuild) that has alot of buildup in its passageways not allowing full complete fuel flow and mixture.
Just a couple other things to consider. Just because the pump did go out doesn't mean that was the sole item causing the problems, as with any old car.
Oh yeah, don't be surprised if the parts house sells you a pump with the inlet barb pointing a different direction than the factory pump. It will still work.
