fuel pump problem

fuel pump went out on 01 gt. put a new fuel pump in and after about 4 times of starting the car the brand new quit. its was a 255 not the stock pump. What could be my problem here? Dont want to keep buying and replacing pumps.

The 99-04 model years use a Fuel pump driver module (FPFM). It works by varying the voltage to the pump to get the desired pressure. That is how a return-less system works.

Not all pumps are compatible with a FPDM.

Is the replacement pump compatible with a FPDM? If not, it will have a short service life.
