I have a 351W with a stock fuel pump. I noticed the fuel pump has a small leak which explains one of the reason i'll end up smelling like fuel when i drive for a long period.

I'm going to buy a new one but was wondering if it is a time to upgrade or if a stock pump will do just fine. The car (67 stang) is a daily driver and will probably not see too much track time.

If u do plan to race ur stang a little, you may just upgrade the fuel pump, but add some other goodies that will help conserve fuel(bigger mm wires, K & N air filter, etc) Summit racing has some good prices for fuel pumps that "pump" more than stock.

If its just a daily driver , the factory pump puts out more than enough pressure / volume to handle a few times of all out WOT , keeping the speedo needle pegged, pedal to the metal driving , plus there dirt cheap. A stock motor can only do so much aint no sense in try to gag it. Unless U need some bragging material. Ive done 2 barrel to 4 barrel conversions an kept the stock pump. Never had a problem with starvation, Unless the tank was allmost empty, Come to think of it , it kinda got where it was like that most times . Just something about hearing that 4 barrel open up , mymymymy......
