fuel smell in the vac line from the fpr.

poking around the engine yesterday trying to find a vac leak i noticed that the line from the FPR smelled like fuel, buddy of mine said that the regulator is bad if you can smell fuel in the vac line, any truth to this?

This is my understanding as well, however I have known to be wrong before! I am sure someone more knowledgable will chime in.

If you take the vacuum hose off the regulator and the hose drips raw gas then the regulator is shot. I bet if you hired a professional vacuum hose sniffer he would say that all the vacuum hoses smell like gas.

Replace it, kinda a PITA taking it off while the fuel rails are still attached, just a forewarning
