I think you'll be wasting your time and money if you don't change the pickup size that comes out of the tank. Think 5/16 straw blowing into 1/2 pipe. I think your fuel pressure and flow will be very erratic. I modified a stock pickup to -6 line from the pump then put a -6 bulkhead in the tank for a return. works for mid 11.0s If interested PM me I'll even throw in a walbro 255 pump.

i check earls & seems like aeromotive is the only place that makes a fitting to connect to the stock tank lines. can i run 6an lines for both supply & return? or does the supply need to be larger than the return ? thanks

Shameless plug here. I have a set up for you listed in the classified section. It includes -8An and -6An with everything needed to run from the tank to the engine. It includes Filter, Lines, Fuel Rails, Regulator, gauge, Y Block etc. It came off a 302 engine which was switched to a carb set up.

Can send you pics if you want.

Is there any particular reason behind a fuel line swap? If you intend to continue using the stock fill lines from the tank there is very little reason to upgrade your lines. In fact, it can be counterproductive if you go too large. Pressure is a result of velocity and volume. As the volume increases and the velocity remains stable, pressure decreases. Low fuel pressure is bad.

i plan on going to a 331 eng. i have a 93 cobra & dont want to go w/ a radical setup i want to keep it "stock" +1. w/ the new tank & pump already in i want to replace the hard lines from the stock tank lines to the fuel rail. my brake line in the middle of my car rusted thru when i had to brake hard one day. when i had the brake lines replaced i was looking at my fuel lines, they didnt look that good. w/ the fear of rust thru & the bigger pump i want to upgrade.

A 5/16" OD line is equal to an AN-5 line and good for roughly 500hp. A 5/16" ID line is equal to an AN-6 and good for about 750hp. I would recommend you utilize fuel lines accordingly. AN-8 is simply too large for your application.

since most places make the quick disconnect fittings at the stock fuel rail in 6 an supply & return & areomotive makes the fitting for the tank lines. i guess ill use 6an supply & return. thanks for the info
