Fuel tank canisters

Does anyone have a good method for getting these things out without breaking them?

Swapping in a cobra tank and pumps. Need to get the blue vapor canisters out of the mach tank for re- use.

Tried practicing on the nasty ones in the cobra tank. Broke the bigger one to pieces.

They are press fit into super tight rubber grommets. Really problematic.

Those vapor valve seals are fragile. Several years ago I was inspecting mine while upgrading my fuel pump and remembered thinking that they will fall to pieces if I ever decided to install a cobra tank. 14 year old car problems. Don’t have good solutions.

I know are last a thousand people have done the cobra tank swap. Wish i could find the guy that figured the best method. Surely somebody had done it without breaking them.
