does the tank on an 01 GT have any sort of vent or overflow area on it? The reason I ask is that the wife filled it up yesterday and said when she came out of the parking lot of a store, there was a small puddle of fuel under the rear, and it was dripping off the side of the tank.

It isn't doing it now. It was pretty friggin hot. COuld it have been fumes and the fact it was a full tank causing it to leak out somewhere? It's not doing it anymore.

...I can take it. I think.

Are you sure it was fuel and not water?

If she overflowed while filling up it is possible for some of the spilled fuel to drain off but if it was hot then the fuel would evaportate quickly. Might want to jack it up and look for moisture around the tank

Check the rubber grommet the filler neck goes into on the side of the tank. Those go bad once in awhile.

but i thought our stangs have an overfil tube. i do remember over filling my 97 and watching my precuious petro run out on the ground [at least it was in the good ole days $1.70 93 octane] never had that problem with my 02. when it stops i stop. no more tryign to squeeze a lil more in the tank for me. see if she was trying to squeeze some more gas in the tank after the pump had already stopped.

it's her car

after the check engine light came on AGAIN, we took it back. Turns out, it was the (going by memory here) evaporator coil causing fuel to be pushed back to the tank. Another 400 ****ing dollars. This ****ing car has to go. We've had it for 5 1/2 years, had a 5 year warr. It NEVER went to the shop for mech problems, now, all of a sudden, 4 months out of warr, everything on it's going to **** up. When I have to start paying for **** to be fixed, it's time for it to go I don't think I'll buy again. I'll just lease her a car, so when that ****er is ready to start breaking down, I can just turn it in and get a new one.

man, this pisses me off

btw, I may have relayed wrong info. His phone was breaking up and I was at work, so I wasn't really listening, nor did I want to hear what they had to say

I think it's a lot nicer to have to pay for repairs once in awhile than payin a $300 or $400 or more car payment every month. Especially if you can fix the problems yourself.

that's true too. I have to remind myself of that. It just pisses me off about the fact it started acting up right after the warr was up
