I started using full synthetic (Mobil 1) at 36K miles and almost 3k miles later my oil is still full with no leaks. I don't think it's that big of a deal to start using it over 25K miles???

Actually, an engine with more than 25k miles should stick to dino oil and not switch to full synthetic... an engine with high miles of dino oil usage will leak like badly on a switch to full synthetic - I have heard this many times over...

Dont really agree with this. Both on my wife's car, brother's truck, parent's vehicles, they all were switched over anywhere from 32k-48k and have had no problems whatsoever. I've always heard that its around 50kish is about the limit from switching over. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

you can change to synthetic at any mileage. i know people that put in whatever, dino or synthetic at all different mileages. that rumor of synthetic causing leaks is crazy talk. synthetic does not cause a leak. the theory is that when you use dino oil there is buildup that the synthetic will clear and leak out of the hardended gaskets. so the leak wouldve happened anyway. if you have a higher mileage car and are worried about switching to synthetic, just do the double AutoRX treatment and then switch. btw i switched my grand marquis to mobil 1 at 50k miles and my 81 ltd with its rebuilt 5.0 at 65k to mobil 1 and had no leaks with either.

What is your PROOF???

Spreading false myth without proof is BS.

I have WAY over 200K on the LX and run Mobil 1 10w-30

Mileage does not matter at all, never has.

I run RP in the GT in 5w-20 in winter, summer it gets 5w-30
Motorcraft filters in all my cars.

ford motorcraft synthetic blend is good enough for me... as long as you chage out your oil ever 3k it really doesn't matter that much...

buy a new car, brand new, switch to full synthetic if you want.. but stay on it... you can switch back to dino... but once on dino stay there...

I for one can't forsee an engine lasting much more than 150k miles with heavy track/street use anyhow.... especially blown or juiced...

IMHO!

I started putting Full synthetic in my car at 70,000 miles. Not a single leak.
