Both will pass.....but the shorty is the only one that is CARB approved.....

The X pipes will pass the IM240 test with no problems as they are built to CARB standards, but they only have the EPA approval.....

Basically if you take your car with the full X pipe to a "not so nice" neighborhood, most of the time they will not care.....

They will both pass with flying colors though.

I'm confused. I thought the full X pipe had CARB approved cats on them. Thus meaning they will pass California smog. The shorty doesn't come with cats becuase it sits behind the OEM cats. At least that's what the website at ninosport says. http://www.ninosport.com/store/item_4.6LMagnaflow_X-pipes2.htm

What am I missing?

The converters are approved .......however you are going from 4 converters to 2 converters...thats where the problem is....

some guys are too lazy to look for the extra converters though......I passed with a Magnaflow X on mine no problem.....the guy just looked under and when he saw the first two didnt bother looking for the second....

May I also suggest www.partshopper.com...great customer service and the profit supports StangNet!

you could always make discrete inquiries at your local speedshop as to a "friendly" smog shop. just don't go spouting off the name of the shop to everyone.

i am still deciding between a magnaflow x or the magnaflow shorty x. :)
