Why do we always bash the chinese made products but we don't bash the Mexican made as hard? Mexicans have better work ethic?

The Mexicans don't hold bank notes equivalent to have the economy of the US like the Chinese do.

i have almost 0 problems going with a mexican/canadian part over a chinese one, the quality is usually better, and at least theyre on the same continent.

I would rather be helping our neighbors and allies. If the employees have better jobs and a better home, they will not be crossing the border illegally.
And I still prefer to buy US made products.

The only people we help when we purchase products no matter where they come from are the owners. Help yourself, save a buck when you can. American production employees probably have poorer or as poor work ethic than the Asians. No one where I work is going the extra mile. The majority are doing the minimum required not to get fired a sometimes below the minimum and hopping not to get caught. Doing just enough to get the product out so they can go home.

From an engineering prospective I hate dealing with China. I've caught chinese machine shops forging inspection docs, and using substandard steel with fake Certs.

I stay US when I can.

I have a hard time avoiding Mexican made products since of late most Motorcraft parts are made in Mexico.

If you get bad parts from a factory in the US or Mexico, you can drive there and re instal them up the quality control department head's nose. Let's see you drive to China to do that.

I heard something the other day that NAFTA is going to require an even larger % of products to b hecho en Mexico than the current percentage rate. It might help the Mexican workers a little but really it just helps the American company owner who has his crap made in a Mexican factory. Lower wages and less taxes.
If we're talking replacement car parts like sensors and such, I really don't think it matters much anymore where they come from. It's all mass produced copies of copies. When humans are involved it's always a crapshoot.
*Edit* I once was a believer in Motorcraft but now not so much. Same ole crap in a more expensive box. Was motorcraft ever made in the USA?

some was, some wasnt. depends on the vendor/contractor, just like everything else. and there is usually a HUGE difference in quality, fit, and function between a motorcraft part and a cheap generic dorman/store brand part, especially in the little things like sensors, pcv valves, actuators, etc. most of us who have been tinkering with these things for a while have learned this the hard way at least once.

It is about quality control from the footings of the factory to the driver of the truck and everyone and every step in between. Wells and Dorman have factories in Mexico. The US OEM's have factories in Canada and Mexico, and the Japanese even have factories (gasp!) in the US. You can get good stuff made in North America or China. It is a matter of who you need to pay how much in order to make it happen, and how likely is it that they are going to rip you off?

Did the OP start this thread just to start an argument? It seems his mind was made up before he asked a question.

I love the emails I get from the Chinese machine shops. The company I work for buys all tooling from China unless it's something we needed yesterday. The substandard steel is a big issue with tooling we order, you don't know what your getting. I will have a material called cpm10v on a print, they want to substitute something else. The carbide is questionable also.

You get what you pay for from China. You can get quality and you can get crap. All depends on who you deal with and the prices you pay. I deal with Chinese companies as well as U.S. but in my industry the quality almost always comes out of China, sadly. One of the factories I deal with is getting ready to switch to Mexico by the end of the year for tax purposes and cheaper labor. Sadly, I fear quality will suffer.

What's the problem with company owners paying themselves the most money? If you were to open your business, put up all of your own money and take ALL THE RISK would you not want to pay yourself more than the people answering phones or boxing and shipping products? The HUGE companies that have a board of directors full of share holders looking to squeeze the little people while they get rich and purchase Senate seats are truly evil and killing capitalism.

Don't vote for D-bag socialists like Obummer. When he squeezes the rich they move their companies to Mexico or over seas. It's the Government forcing them out, not just the greed of the 1%. Taxes for business owners both small and big are a killer. Don't even get me started about Unions too!

As far as Mexico goes, I believe the closer the product is to you the more control you have over quality. China is also demanding more money for inferior products to companies are looking for alternatives so China.
