Future Hotrods/Classics?

So I'm at a point where I don't know where I want to go with my car. I don't want to tear it down replace a few things put it back together and either still have the knocking or have it go away fro a while then come back like it did this time. I found a motor I want and I'm pretty dead set on it. No I won't tell you what it is. A few people have seen it and I am asking them now not to say anything PLEASE. But it cost a bit and will other parts that I will have to add to it and change out on the car while the motor is out. The motor I'm looking at is $100 less then what I paid for the car so I'm kinda stuck. I have considered selling it as is. The guy I bought it off of wants it back but I don't really want to sell it. But I'm short on funds and I really want a house and I would need a garage to do a motor swap. I'm misrable as hell now that I can't drive it I can't imagine how I'll be if I sell it.

So my questions are

Do you guys this our cars will be the Hotrods and classics of the future?

Do you think its worth putting all this money in to our cars?

This could be a thought for anybody really, we all drop tons of money into our cars but is it worth it in the end?

Will our cars be looked at like the hotrods of today?

Don't know. But I think our cars are considered yesterdays foxes. Maybe if you have one with very low miles in the future, it could be worth something. Don't know if "we're the last of the 5.0" thing will have any effect to it.

How long does it take for a car to be considered "classics" anyway? 15-20 years? If so, will you hold on to your car that long?

25 years at least thats how long for the state to consider it one and be able to get a classic tag and not need emissions.

Just thought I'd point out, you are already practically there (2006-1994=12).

Its hard to say what our cars will be as this is the first time we'll be looking back on a different "group" or "styling" of muscle cars....do i think a stock 94-95 mustang will be something special? Eh...maybe in a all stock category. Other than that i cant see it being as special as the "classics" of today...but like said, u never know.

Besides all that...this question is really for each individual. Whats worth to me might not be worth to you. Some guys think its stupid to spend $5k in performance on a $5k car. But others dont think twice about it. I look at it like this, if it satifies me or makes me smile everytime i go out...then its worth it. That is....until it breaks

Bottom line, if its something that truly makes u happy go for it. But if u could go without it...i'd think twice. Just like the guys who would rather sell there car and buy a 03 cobra. Where as myself, i'd like to keep my car and upgrade everything on it.

Those are some tough questions...

In some ways, I do feel like our cars will be somewhat special. As far as to the extent of say, a 64 1/2 Mustang, I'm not sure. If it ever does come to that, it may not happen in our time. I don't know that they'll ever go that far. It's kind of a guessing game there. But I can honestly say that just like the Foxes, I'm starting to see less and less 94-95s on the road.

As far as resale, not always. Most people don't get back every cent they put into their cars. But it is worth it if it makes us happy, IMO.

Again, probably not financially, as far as getting the money back if/when you sell. But like before, if it makes you happy, and you can afford it, then yes it's worth it. If this is truly a beloved hobby for you.

Same answer as first question...

I think it's really all in how much YOU value your car. If you like it, and can see yourself with it a long way down the road, keep it, and do to it whatever makes you happy.

I don't know if I like that idea or not.

Just because, I like the fact that people sometimes confuse my car with an '04?
lol! true story... granted the guy OBVIOUSLY knew nothing about mustangs, but it's a good compliment when someone sees your car thinking it's 10 years newer than it really is.

I get that once in a while too, most non-mustang enthusiasts can differentiate a late 60's body style from a fox body, but I do get people constantly ask me if its a 2000 - 2004. Its a good feeling to be driving a 12 eek year old car thats nowhere near being classified as a rust bucket. I plan on keeping my car for a very long time for the simple fact that its not a throw-away plane-jane car like 90% of the population drives. Its an American icon that is instantly recognized by anyone who hasen't been living under a rock for their whole lives, and turns heads wherever I take it. And if it ever begins to look like a rust bucket, I'll probably strip the whole car down to bare metal and rebuild it entirely so that clueless people can ask me if its a 2017 model

i don't think so. i mean look at how many are made! granted the 94-95 are more rare, but the body style is EVERYWHERE. don't get me wrong, i love these cars and i think we should enjoy them as we own them, but i don't think they're going to be "classics" unless they have extremely low miles or are a rare edition such as a saleen or maybe even cobra's..

and even then i think a built 94 or 95 will get more attention in 15 years than a stock cobra. With how things are going...teenagers in 10 years are gonna laugh when we tell them our cars had 215hp or whatever stock They're gonna go out and get in their high horsepower stangs or camaros.

Future hotrod or not, I dont plan on ever getting rid of my GT. Im only 19 so I will have to have it for a few more years, but when I actually do get a new car/truck, I wont get **** on a trade-in so I might as well keep it.

Could I go without the motor I want Hell Yeah but do I want too no. I want my car to be differnent and one of a kind so droping a rebuilt 302 or 306 or hell even a 347 in it is just being like everybody else.

My ultimate goal is to squeeze a fuel-injected 514 in there somehow. Yes, big bucks and lots of fabrication, but it would be mainly for show, drag, and the occasional weekend cruise. I just want to open the hood and see something ridiculously big under there

I see what u're saying...but i mean its either a 302 based motor or 351...unless u plan on doing a swap. But then u take away from it being a 94-95.

good luck changing the spark plugs

As for me I plan on keeping mine thats why i put so much money into that pit. I havent driven mine in almost 2 years. So i know all about waiting and watching the car just sit. But my other choice was to sell it get close to nothing for the car..Lets say I was to get 8,000 for it plus 11,000 I just dropped on it..What car would I have bought that is as fast, as fun, and as much of a head turner as my 94. Not much......Plus I built it the way I like it.
