I have a 1970 Mustang with a 393 stroker that will be making around 450Hp at the flywheel and 500 ft-lbs of torque. I really like the idea of installing a T5 tranny since the Tremec TKO will require either cutting the transmission tunnel to get the ideal driveline angle or having the back of the engine tilted about 1" lower than stock and not cutting the tunnel and having the driveline angle screwed up. Does anyone have any expierence with the G-Force T5's? I won't be able to plant all the power to the payment even though I am running Caltrac traction bars. Will I be walking that fine line going with the G-Force tranny? G-Force states on there website that they are safe with 600hp or 500 ft-lbs of torque in a 3300 lb vehicle. I could see this to be an issue with my engine output if I was running slicks and would stick all the hp and torque to the pavement. The car will be driven on the street, not at the track. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Go with the G-Force. I have toured the G-Force facility and I have talked to the owner and you will be safe a that power level even with slicks. The quality of their products are top notch. I will be buying a kit for my T-5 in the next few months.

I have an Astro Performance A-5, which is quite similar to the G-force trans. It's been in for 4 track events now and has performed like a champ in front of 445rwhp. Talk to Tony at Astro.

I have a heilical geared dog ring g force t-5 that has lived behind a 408 that makes 400 rwhp and 450ftlbs of torque for two years now and I drive that thing hard see vid http://www.stangnet.com/Videos/Road-Racing/1988-Saleen-Mustang-at-WSIR/details/ you can hear the shift entering turn 3 and exiting turn 6
. the shift is kinda loud sometimes but is much more solid than a syncro unit. the "dog ring" trannys are radical but they make a syncronised unit also that is suposed to be prety tough chris

Tony @ astro is good to deal with regardless of weather youre getting a t5 based box or a tko.

I have the G Force T5 purchased from Tony @ Astro Performance as well.
It works very well with my FRPP 347c.i./450hp/400ft lbs tq.
The G force is also much lighter than the TKO and required no mods to the trans tunnel on my 65 Fasback.

I went with the TKO b/c it was cheaper and modifying the tunnel is no problem for me. They will handle more torque than the G-Force as well.

good deal..
I have a TKO 600 behind a GMPP 572 crate in my 70 Nova SS and it is a nice unit.
I am confident you will be pleased.
