I'm looking at upgrading the stock tranny in my Cobra with a G-Force T-5. My stock gear ratios are 3.35, 1.99, 1.33, 1.00, and .68; the G-Force T-5 ratios are 2.95, 1.94, 1.34, 1.00, and .63. I currently have 3.73s, so would this difference in the tranny ratios negate the 3.73s? Would the .40 difference on the 1st gear make that much of a difference?

Hey whats up. I have the same gforce trans. Based on your,.. bit vague sig, I am guessing you shift at 5800RPM. With the current trans, you shift from 1st to second @36MPH. You will now have a longer 1st and shift @41MPH. That's actually a good difference for 1st. The other place that will make a big difference is the 5th gear.

At 55MPH you are at 1825PRM, you will now drop to 1691RPM. That's serious BUCKING zone for me which is why I just sold mine. But, you will probably be fine and may notice a gas savings. @70MPH u will be 2153RPM instead of 2353. That few RPM makes a difference in driveability. You will probably like it and use less gas in my o. Last of all, that trans is no joke. The gears are going to be whiny because they are BEEFED. But not too much whinier than the T-5.. But you will be able to throw just about any power at it up to 7200ROM. Best of luck.

You're about right in your assumptions. I don't really have much done to the car right now (stock engine), which is one reason why my sig is vague. Thanks!

Hehe cool. I wasn't sure if you were hiding some mods or not lol. Some peeps consider superchargers and turbo's "bolt ons." I think they are crazy.

I'll be building a 347 this summer/fall, so it won't be stock for very long.
