Anyone run a g-tech on their 05 stang?

My wife is asking me what I want for CHRISTMAS and I'm leaning towards asking for a g-tech. I'm currious what everyone's experience is with them. It'll be going on my modded 66 fastback. Any input would be appreciated.

Well I got one for my b-day 2 years ago and have used it twice........IT would be fun to mess around with, but quessing the weight is tough with how much gas you have and what not. I would opt to just spend the money on dyno time and drag racing. These are a lot more fun for sure and are most accurate.

I have an Escort G-Timer inbound. It will be fun. It's not got as many features as the best G-Tech, but it will help me more accurately measure my 0-60's and other runs in order to help me measure the affects of my modifications.

Agreed. It is mostly a toy but if used PROPERLY, it could be a good tuning/measurement tool.

Here is a post I made in 4.6 tech...
(the et's and hp are off probably due to the road not being flat and various other factors. i have only used it for fun so far as I don't have a safe place to do it over and over)

I went to the track once with my Competition but I wasn't able to get weighed even though they told me over the phone that their weigh station would be open. I don't remember how accurate it was as I wrote it down on my timeslips but I can't find them right now.

Anyways, the software is cool because it logs your RPMs and shift points so you can see what you did on the run. When I'm racing, I don't really pay -too- much attention to when I shift and after the run I forget. So it's nice that it logs all that great info.

I'm not sure if it was totally set up properly either. There is a rollout setting that I'm not sure what it should be. But, I think the logging is just damn cool. Also, I DO NOT have an abandoned road or whatever to do 6 back to back runs in opposite directions on a flat road. So I haven't used it in a while. Last time was at the drag strip.

Luckily I do have a road that I can use, however 1/4 mile runs will not be safe. I will have to limit it to about 0-80 runs or so (I could squeeze in a 1/4 mile, but then I'd be approaching a mild turn at 100mph, and you never know who is coming around the corner over the line). By keeping it to 0-60 or 0-80 runs, I have a clear, straight, fairly level spot I can do back-to-back runs, and it's safe because you can see far enough up ahead to back off the run if someone approaches.

I got my car weighed at the local Transfer Station. For those of you who don't know what that is, we don't have a local dump. There is a Transfer STation where you (and the garbage trucks) go to do your dump run. They process the stuff there (recycleables, green waste, etc) and the truck the remainder out of town to a distant land fill.

They have a scale they claim to be accurate in 20lb increments. I validated that against Ford's detailed weight and option analysis.

And a lot of drag strips also have scales. Major highways also have weigh stations so trucks can check their weight before crossing bridges and crap. I've been told they charge $5 to be weighed but I've never gone.
