I recently took my 2 month old, 2005 Mustang in for service due to the Gas Cap light being on. I was told that Ford engineering is aware of the false reading and a solution is currently under development. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Funny that you mention this. I had the exact same thing happen on my 2006 Mustang GT. I took the gas cap off and put it back on with no luck. Then a few days later while driving to work it magically went off and hasn't come back on since. Go figure.

I had this problem with my 01 Bonn SSEI religiously. Anytime i topped off the tank it would happen, and the light would not go out for weeks (several tanks later). The only way i could avoid it was stop pumping the moment the pump stoppoed on its own. The guy i sold it to still has this problem.
