Gas Gauge Problem

Has anyone else had this problem?

Sometimes when I'm driving down the road, the gas gauge drops to E and the gas light comes on, telling me I need to get gas. Well I know it's no where near empty because I filled up a day or two earlier and haven't drove it much. It has done this several times now. Even when I stop and turn the car off and back on, it still does this. Then it won't do it again, but it triggers the CEL saying that the fuel sensor has to high of a voltage and something else I cannot remember at the moment.

I had the car in the shop once for this, about 2 months ago, and they said it was the gas I was using. So they added some type of additive and re-set the CEL. Now it's doing it again. It dropped to E the other night while driving and the gas light came on. Now today the CEL is on again and saying the same thing as before.

I plan on taking it in within the next week, but I was just curious if anyone else has had this problem.

so have you had the tank replaced. i remember some giuys having that prob after the swap. our tank has two sending units due to the saddle set up. when they took them apart the connections were bad.

Nope. I never got the tank replaced. I did have the filling problems, and still do at times, but after hearing the horror stories even after getting the tanks replaced, I opted out on that.

I'm not exactly sure if that is being sarcastic or not, but I will take it that way since it says you are from So. Cal. :rlaugh: (USC :notnice: ).

:D

yea i would have it replaced too. i was one of the first to have the tank replaced. my bud and i did it. it was pretty easy other tahn the fact that the protector cracked. thats why i was telling people to have them order the protector too. the two sending unit/pumps need to be relocated into the new tank. and the bypass tube and harnesses need to be hooked up. i could see how it could get messed up but most dealers should have a few under thier belt by now.
