gas gauge question need help

i have a 2000 mustang v6 in awesome shape had it 2 months or so but anyhow the gas gauge doesnt work properly im stuck between cluster or sendor, its either above full or below empty, when i fill up its above full untill about 140 miles then drops below empty everytime it has properly worked once or twice

well i know when i bought my 98 3 years ago the fuel gauge only went to a little bit above a quarter of a tank and that was empty, but my fuel pump was bad at the same time so i had the fuel pump replaced and my fuel gauge works perfectly everytime, so basically if your car is acting like mine did, then this might be a warning sign that your fuel pump is gong out of your car.

i checked resistance on it and it has 119 ohms or something like that doesnt whine or anything like it is going out have an extra just in case lol

Do you have a Ford workshop manual, wiring diagrams, and PCM manual for your car? If not, I maybe able to help. PM if interested.

Check out the following on how to access the cluster diagnostic mode. This will help you figure out if the problem is a bad sender or a bad gauge.
