Gas shooting out of the vent stem

Went to start car last night and gas was shooting out of the vent stem. Good 5 to 6 inches. Thought is was a little weird. Had float stick before but not that much gas blow out. In any case thought it was float sticking and pulled of carb and bowls and clean as a whistle working fine. No debris - no gumming etc.

Put back together and same results. Could an overzealous fuel pump going bad cause this problem? Any other ideas.

70 351 Cleveland with I think a 600 Holley.n New model Holley w/o site glass.

hmm sound like needle and seat aren't sealing off allowing the bowls to overfill?? I dunno

The float itself could be bad and not shutting off the flow to the bowl.
Check that out, take it out, is it extra heavy and full of gas?

What fuel pump are you running? Did you remove the needle/seat from the bowl and inspect it? If it was excess fuel pressure, it would sink both floats more'n likely.
