Gauge Cluster Wiring Help

I am a big newbie when it comes to wiring, so bare with me please. I recently bought gauge clusters that look something like this:



However, when i wired them as the directions told me, they lit up for a bit, but after like 5 mins they died out. I assumed it was because the "power inverter box" burned out. The directions said "The power inverter for the indiglos is very sensitive. You could burn it out if the wattage is too high. To prevent this from happening, you can connect a separate 10 Amp fuse inline with the red wire ". I did not do this.

Instead, what i did was connect the ground wire to the metal cylinder behind the speedometer;
And connect the power wire to the gray wire found in the middle of the headlight switch box. ( i assume the fuse would go somewhere after this wire instead of going directly to the headlight switch box )

I now ordered a brand new inverter and am ready to install the 10 amp fuse.

Now my questions is, does anyone know how? I was trying to look up this issue on the forums and i found a wire tool that looks like this:



Is this the wire im looking for? If so, can someone give me some directions on how to install it =\.

LOL kalvick, i did steal your pick. Sorry 'bout that. Anyways, i got a new power inverter, and the instructions recommend you to use a 10 amp fuse with the power wire. I did not do that the first time so i assumed i burned out my inverter.
I have no idea on how to add a 10 amp fuse to my power wire.

You say you purchased a Simco cluster, but thats different. I just bought the little face coverings, not the whole cluster so it may be different.

So do i use a fuse after all?

Edit: I might have not been clear enough in the beginning, but the lights illuminated at first for about 3 mins and i turned them off. When my dad asked me to show the lights to him a few minutes later, they just wouldn't turn on anymore. (Thats why i think i burned out my inverter.)
