Gauge lights?!

Hello everyone, this is my first post on stangnet. I was wondering if anyones had any experience or could know why my interior lights dont work. The lights on the gauges and on the air and heat controls dont work, but the dome lights work. I've checked and replaced the fuses but nothing. The car is an 87 GT 5.0, a rare ttop.

yeah either the light switch is out or you have a short samething happened to my 91 lx i had a sort

Do you know how i'd go about finding the short?

Most likely the dimmer switch is bad. You can take everything apart and try and bypass the wires if you really wanted to, but that's the most common cause.

another common cause is someone not taping off the illumination light wire when putting a stereo in. but, as 89 GX said, the dimmer is very common (but often it fries due to another problem).
