So as my next mod, I'm going with gears.....I think. I now have the off-road H and Super 40's and I wondered which gear, 3.73 or 4.10, is going to annoy me the least. Any advice?

I'd suggest 4.10s. The higher the RPMs on the highway, the less drone.

And 4.10s help your gas milage around down...just not on the highway

I honestly want 4.10s after having 3.73s for a while now, but I do too much highway travel for them (180 to 220 mile round trip every weekend). Yes, my car hates me.

Cool. I have put a grand total of 2,500 miles on my car in the last 6 months so obviously I have no highway travel at all. I want 4.10's, but I'm not sure my family jewels are big enough!

I don't recommend 3.90's. I run those, and it runs more like a 4.10 car than a 3.73 one; and the 3.90 doesn't seem as well matched to a NA engine. I have to shift to fourth in the quarter almost at the end of the track, and that one shift kills it. It drops a bit out of the power band, and I end up at 13.9 everytime. I ran better time in a GT almost identical to mine with 3.73's. My cousin swears by 4.30's. His car runs at a higer RPM on the hwy, out of the dreaded drone zone. The 4.10 should be around 2500 at 70, and the 3.73 about 2250 at same speed. I'm at about 2350-2400 at 70 with 3.90's. For the city the 4.30's actually improved my cousin's GT's gas mileage. He can leave it in second or third the whole time. I'm thinking of moving up to the 4.10.

I like the 4.10's. That is the way to go.
I want 4.10's. I think the 3.90 is not the best gear for stock cars.
I rode in a 4.10 car, and that gear seemed to be better matched to the trans and engine.
After the 3-4 shift in the quarter the 4.10 car keeps going. My 3.90's fall flat after the 3-4 shift.
I pulled down 13.7's with a 3.73 '99GT. My '03 GT with 3.90's never would do better than 13.9. Both cars all stock, with aftermarket exhaust and lowering springs. Me driving both. I really think with the 3.90 I could have gotten mid 13's, but I had cruddy tires. My friends car with 3.73's had BFG KD's on it. My cousin's '04 GT with 4.30's is in the 13.4 range. My '02 GT is getting 4.10's. Get sticky tires to go with the gears. That was my problem. I think this time I am going to do suspension as well.
