gear/ecm????

I just had ford put 3.73 gears in my 02 saleen and they recal the ecm.Now the ses lite is on.They say the computer is trying go back to the stock 3.27.What can I do?

HUH , doesnt make sense to me . I would get them to put it back to stock and contact Tim at T&Js // www.modularfordpowerhouse.com he should be able to reflash for gears without it messing with anything else , or get the code pulled at autozone for free and post the code on here for more help .

they didn't do it right but just to be sure it's the gear calibration that set off the SES light...have the code pulled at like Autozone or somewhere else to see what exactly the problem is.

It was a recal code I saw it when I had them pull it last night.I just can't remember the code.

If Ford did it, you paid an arm and a leg to get it done thats for sure. Now it sounds like they didnt even tell you that you would need a reflash or speedcal . If you let Ford do it just so you can keep your warrenty, you are going to have to have them reflash the comp or else they will void your warrenty for having someone else do it.
All in all man you are better off taking your car to a GOOD speed shop and having them do your work. If something messes up that really is warrenty work thats not related to your mods, then the dealer should still fix the problem. If you put gears in and break an axle or something though, I would go back to Ford expecting them to do much to help

I let ford do it because it was convenient.I am not worried about the warranty.The nearest GOOD speed shop is an hour away.When I am not at work I am watching my 14mos twins.I am just irratated because I made sure to ask if they could flash the computer for the gears.The service mgr said yes.

Gears

I recently had 3.73 gears put in my 2000 GT. Two Ford dealers tried to change the computer to correct the speedo with no luck. They both said they could only put in a ratio that was available for a production car. I ended up with a SpeedCal-speedo is dead on now.

WHOOOOOA!!!! Do you have the supercharged saleen? If so ford should have known better than to try to reflash it. Saleen has their proprietary flash they use, and ford may have put a bunch of stock parameters back into it. Definetely don't get into boost if that is the case.

Yes it is SC I told them about the saleen pwr flash and he said they could flash it.All they did was recalibrate the gears.I don't believe they can reflash it.I will probably need to go have a chip burned.I am just p*** he said it wasn't a problem.

^ When I had the steeda tune, Steeda constantly insisted that I could take my car to ANY ford dealership and they would be able to adjust my steeda tune for my 3.73s that I had recently had installed.

Well for some stupid reason I listened to Steeda and took it to my local ford dealership. I gave my car to their "SVT tech" and in the end after a few attempts he said he changed it but I took it for a drive and it wasn't calibrated for 3.73s. I give up with Ford and took it home.

The next day I get a SES code. I call Ford and tell them I believe it's from them messing with my computer. They tell me to bring it back the next day. The next day I go to start up my car and it starts but keeps stalling. I couldnt' drive the car as is.

Turns out the tech totally messed with my tune and changed the wrong parameters. I had to call Tim(T&J Performance) and he fixed it for me.

Never will I let ford touch my computer again. Lesson learned.

If I were you I would give up on Ford and send your computer out to someone else like Tim at T&J Performance or someone else who at least really knows how to recalibrate the computer and not mess up the supercharger settings.

How is it running? I am not sure if they can just update the one scalar variable that changes the gears, so my concern would be that they modified some of the other settings as well, which could cause some serious damage under boost. I would call Saleen and make sure. Also unless you have somewhere that you could get a dyno tune, you could send them the EEC to have it reflashed for the gears.

The isdle was alittle erratic.All they told me was they relibrated the gears.I do have access to dyno& was planning on a tune.

let me ask you this....did the recal even work? did you notice that the speedo has changed?

I don't know if the recal even worked.I didn't drive it but about 1 min to the gas station .The ses lite came on when i started it up.I drove right back to the dealer.About 1/4 mile.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didnt' even fix it right...take it for a drive and see if it's changed even.

They didn't get it fixed yet.Maybe tomorrow uh.I am beginning to think they flashed the gt parameters.I think they are probably waiting on saleen.God only knows how long that could take.

UPDATE

Well it's been 3 days and they finally admit they can't fix the computer after f***in it up.They told me i could send the computer to saleen and PAY for a reflash.I did not take this news very well.As they didn't want to take responsibility for it.I had to go to the dealership with my lawyer and threaten to sue before they decided THEY will deal with saleen and pay to fix it.They say did not flash a gt program but now he said it was throwing all sorts of codes.So i don't believe them.Meanwhile they are furnishing me a car to drive also.

Glad to hear they are getting it fixed for you. Don't believe them. I am sure they messed up the flash. A gear change won't cause it to throw codes.
