I searched and found nothing.

I want to take a stab at installing 3.55's in my car. I don't like to take my car to a shop, and I like to learn new things anyway. Are there any good articles out there that can guide me?

Also, the FRPP gears come with the crush sleeve, shims and I believe marking compound (and the one from Mustangs Unlimited comes with oil and the cone roller bearing I believe.) Do I need to buy the additional installation kit that sells for a little over a hundred dollars with all the bearings and such? My rear end seems pretty good, but I'm asking what the rest of you did when you installed yours.

Where is the best place to buy them (FRPP) that you've found? 5.0 resto seems to have the best price, ($169.00) but they don't list what's included.

I have a good garage, press and most of the tools (except for the pinion depth tool, which I'm told that the FRPP should be the same as factory). Think I can pull this off?

Man, gears are tough. I have done a lot of mechanical things to my car, but would never attempt to install gears. I wish it was as easy as it seems. Let me see if I can find an article to help. It is a really good, in depth write-up that might make you change your mind.

I am in the same boat as you, i have a set of 3.73's sitting in my living room with the trac-lok rebuild kit. I dont think that i have the tools that i need to get this done so it looks like i am going to have to take mine to a shop and get it done. One shop gave me a price of 170 for the gears (not the trac-lok rebuild). When i was trying to figure out if i could attempt the gear or not i stumbed upon this artical, i think its a pretty good one.

I hope it does you more good then me.

Great article. Here's my question...where is the traction loc mechanism? I didn't see it any of his pictures at all. Shouldn't my GT have the traction loc from the factory? (I don't think mine is working, but I'm sure it has it).
