Alright, I just got a set of Richmond 4.10's and I'm getting them installed on Friday. The shop said that they'd supply the installation kit, but I have to buy the oil and Posi-additive. They're doing it for $135 which I consider a steal because the installation kits normally run about $75 alone. Anyway... Since I have to supply the gear oil and posi-additive, which is the best? I was told to use 80W-90.. Also, which posi-additive should I get?

Ford makes a bottle of additive for like $5. I might try a good Lucus or something like that gear oil. Not sure which weight though.

I have heard of guys not putting gear additive because it makes your Trac-Loc not work as good. Not sure how true that is, maybe someone else will help me out.

I would use cheap dino 80W-90 for break-in (with a bottle of modifier). Then switch to your choice of synthetic after break in.

Auto cross guys often dont use the modifier - no modifier makes the clutches bite harder. But on a street car, this creates some chatter and rumbling - not something I would want.

Good luck.

No crap, that is a deal, I got a buddy who is a master at building race cars and he charges $100 labor. I had $120 in my install kit which included wheel bearings. Anyway cheap gear oil because you have to change it around 500 miles. Then I would do synthetic. Also the Ford friction modifier is $3.85 at our local dealer. You will need a bottle each time.

PS. The Richmonds are gonna whine from what I hav been told by numerous people.
