Gear tooth count

Anyone know the Ring and Pinion tooth count on 3:73 gears? Is it true you can divide the pinion gear count by the ring gear count to get the ratio?

Yes......I didn't believe it but the guy that changed my 3:27's showed me. I'm not sure it was the other way around but he had me count the teeth and he did the math...lol

I have been told of this method as well to verify what is in your car if you cant read the plate or it has been changed.

Thanks, all that helps out. I also read in a Ford Performance book that with 26 inch diameter tires with 3:73 gears I should be at around 1900 rpm at 60mph.
That is what I'm at if the speedometer is correct.

yep ring tooth count / pinion gear count

iirc i think it is 36 ring teeth and 11 pinion teeth

36/11 = 3.272727

Did the old turn the drive shaft and tire and counted each turn, 3 3/4 for the drive shaft to one turn of tire and per the link above I should have 3:73 gears as the seller told me.
