I heard from somebody today that some ford vans have 3:73 gears in them. I wanted to know which vands they were and if the gears will fit in to my 8.8 on my 87 gt.. Also will a 4 banger t-5 work in my car? Im asking this because the local Junk yard is havin a 99cent parts sale tommorrow and im gonna get some stuff.

If the vehicle has an 8.8" pumpkin weather it be attatched to a solid or independent suspension/axle - it will fit. Look on the identification tag on the cover and look for the indentations of first off, "8.8" and second, "3L73" "3 73" or "3N73" - any combination will work, just make sure it comes out of a ford 8.8"

As for the T5 from a 4 banger, do a search for the issue. First off, it isn't a direct bolt-up, and second is it isn't as strong as the v8 T5.

The gears should work fine, as long as its an 8.8 rear, i agree with RsStanG1987 the t-5 out of the 4 banger doesnt have the same strength as the t-5 outa the v8
