Gearing and Wheels Questions???

Two questions that, if anyone would provide advice and answers, would be greatly appreciated:

1. Does switching to 3.73 or 4.10 gears affect gas mileage at all? And which of the two would work better for my '02 Roush II?

2. Brake dust on my rims is killing the look: any suggestions for a product to clean them well and effectively??

the switch from the 3.73's to 4.10's won't be anything noticable in the milage department. now the performance department is a whole other story. i just got back from a 800mi trip & i got on average 23 mpg with my 4.10's & that was mixed with some in town driving

the gears should affect your mileage when on the highway because you will be running at higher rpms. I think at 70mph 373's will turn 200 rpm higher than 327, and 410's will turn about 200 rpm higher than 373. Around town you should get about the same gas mileage you will just be shifting more. Most ppl recomend 373's for a power adder on a 5 spd, 4.10's na 5spd, 4.10's for a auto with a power adder, 4.30's for auto na. Most ppl on stangnet will probably recomend the 4.10's, I will probably get 373's b/c i plan on adding nitrous. As far as the brake dust I dont like using any strong chemicals on my chrome rims, just car wash soap and water usually gets mine clean.

What I use on my mustang is a product by RGS Labs called FW1. its alittle on the expensive side but well worth it. it will clean ur car and wax it at the same time, when applied to windows it will prevent oil from ur fingers from leaving marks and will act like RAIN-X. It also works well on wheels. You must clean them with soap and water and scrub them really good to get all brake dust off first. Then when u apply FW1 on them its like adding a teflon coating to them so next time u go to clean them u really only need to wipe them off and the brake dust comes off easy. Very great product. It the only product i use on my car for waxing and cleaning the outside. I had a door hit my car and left nasty black marks which saop and a normal car wash couldn't get off. but this got it off without a problem. I use SuperClean it is in a purple bottle, you can get it pretty much anywhere and it is priced well, especially because you can dilute it and it still works great!
I use it to get the bugs off my bumper as well as cleaning my wheels with it.
I like me 3.73's, and I am THINKING about wishing I got 4.10's =/

No, you should be in the same gear for normal driving.You will shift sooner if you are racing, but not just driving around.Does your car have a blower?if it does, go with 3.73s.If it is n/a or automatic, definitely go with 4.10s or even 4.30s.The difference in mileage is going to be very minimal if any. I get around 24mpg on the hwy with my 4.10s.I strongly reccomend them.

I don't have a blower- plan on eventually adding one- though that is much further down the line- I guess though I should probably go with 3.73's in the thought that eventually a Kenne Bell or Vortech may be added.
