Gears - Breakin time?

guy who did mine said what i hear around here alot. just go easy on it until it goes through a few heat cycles. at least b4 romping too hard. not positive though.

I read several places to take the car on 3 easy around town 10 mile trips with a cool down inbetween each. Then let the car set over night before driving again. See my post a few days ago on installing your own gears. I attached a zip file with several docs in it that have variations on the break in procedure.

Like he said. I mean when you bought the car new you didnt have to heat cycle the gears. the only reason you would take it easy with a brand new car is for the clutch's sake and the brake pads to keep them fom glazing.

I really would not worry about it. I have never heard of anyone having problems with their gears due to poor break in. The 3 test drive thing is in theory supposed to help heat treat the gears for better strength, but the gears are so well made these days that it is nothing to worry about. Just do what ever makes you feel comfortable.

id say do the three run idea just to be safe. I mean, you will have plenty of time to rip on it and it isnt worth risking damage just because you have an anxious right foot. I would go with the three run idea.
For the record, my personal belief is that there is no break-in period. Period. 
That being said, follow the recommendations of your installer, so as to avoid any possible warranty problems. I nailed it from the get-go and have been whine/trouble free for a year now.
