hey guys. i recently got a 94 mustang gt. auto...
can you tell me what gears i have now 3.27? or im not sure. i was thinking about swappin em out and puttin in something else maybe 4.10 maybe. i was wondering how much it would hurt my gas mileage. and woud they be too low? im looking for some twq and i want to get 0-60 faster. seems im geared too high to get a jump off the linehttp://forums.stangnet.com/images/smilies/SNSign.gif

4:10 on auto is perfect!, i have 4:10 in t-5 and it's little too much. i am swapping out my 4:10 for 3:73 and putting 4:10 in my 96 auto. You will notice a big difference!!! will hurt the gas mileage due to high revving. trust me you can't help it

go with a 4.10 for sure. i went with them in my 5spd and i have never thought about swapping them out. i love them. and as for gas mileage, it will decrease, but not too dramatically. you obviously didnt buy a mustang for gas mileage anyway.

Most 5.0 SN-95 Mustangs come with 2.73's. I recently went to 3.73's and I get about 23 MPG on the highway.

It sounds like 4.10's would suit you. The one caveat would be if you do a lot of highway driving.

Welcome and good luck.

Oh, as I'm sure you know, there are myriad speed calculators out there (on the web). It's nice to see what you're getting yourself into.

One more thing to consider: If you like to drive with OD turned off while in town, figure out speeds for your peak cruising RPM. It might suck if you now have to be in OD around town at 40 mph when before you were in 3rd (and actually could get up and go a little better. This is just a hypothetical).

Good luck.
