Hi All,
So tell me about gears,which ones are the best.My only concern with them is highway cruising what sort of rpm will say 4.10's be at.

Just so you know this is a subject that comes up a lot so certain pissy members bitch about it. Just Wait someone will chime in to help you out.

Also there are a lot of people that debate between 3.73 and 4.10.

It depends on your highway speeds. With my 4.10s, I can go 65-70 comfortable. That puts me around 2000-2500. At 75-80, I'm around 3000. I don't hold those speeds for long periods. For the big condensed city I'm in, 65-70 is perfect for the freeway.

well it is asked atleast 6 times a day....

4.10's is my choice.. if you like to cruise over 80 mph for long streches you may want to go 3.73's

Sorry for posting and already done topic.Im a mod on another board so I know how frustrating it is.
But howabout when an informative thread appears about gears,Tires,Exhausts etc.It could get moved to a differnt location then all us newbs could go there first and find answers.Instead of trawlling through hundreds of posts with that happen to the search word in but have no revelence to what we are serching for.

you should be able to find a lot of info on 3.73's but I get in less trouble now with my 4.10's that comfort spot for me that use to be 80-85 is now 70-75 so I get less tickets.

I just put 4.10's in my ride. I was debating on 3.73's or 4.10's for a long time, and I decided on the 4.10's. I LOVE THEM! Definitely do a search on gears though, you should come across alot of threads.

4.10s for real men is my new slogan. (N/A of course)

Don't fear the gear. Highway cruising is no problem for me. When I put a Mongoose kit on my car, the 4.10s will stay even then.

There are new Mustang owners every day. These are the typical first mods, and people are excited about their cars, and are also excited about finding their new web hangout. I've stopped several friends from posting the same crap myself, but I can understand the excitement of the new car, and the mod bug kicking in, coupled with not wanting to waste money on uneducated purchases! Sure, search is there, but that thing doesn't seem to cue up the older posts with the good tech in them. It would be stale as hell if the search only came up with 2 year old tech threads. If that were the case whem I got my car, and came here and followed the advice I ended up with from the search, I'd have 3.73s and a cold air. Besides, this board would be dead, if there weren't posts like this to keep things stirred up in here!

you would think someone by now would just make a sticky on gear type and a mph@rpm graph, and which gears are best suited for which setups and goals. i would, but i dont know the rpm per mph numbers, or id just make a nifty little graph myself. a thread that says "looking for gears, look here first".

and for those who cant decide if they want the 1/4 mile advantage of 4.1's or freeway advantage of 3.73's, theres a middle ground most dont wander into cause its Motive territory. get a set of 3.90's and a good install and have the best of both worlds. i plan on doing gears and rear deep dishes(10.5 wide) as soon as bills are payed (paint, new gaming rig setup) off.

I have 3.73s and the are better for the highway if you like to air the motor out for long periods of time. The car had them in it when I got it. All my driving is city so I will be switching to 4.10s mainly cuz it seems to make half the people on this happy. I'll put mine in and post how much of a difference there is.

My thoughts exactly...

For every one or two that come here and ask the usual questions, there's probably 20+ that came here, read old threads, made a choice, and moved on. I don't sweat over repeated questions. It just means Stangnet is helping new Mustang owners into the addiction.
