You always post this, I think it's funny as all hell and true, as this gets brought up all the time. The search works pretty decent, I don't think you would have a problem finding gear threads. There is a sticky on the Tech page at the top for newbies that has 4.10's and 3.73 vids. Never watched em, but I think they are there.

Oh yeah, 4.10's all the way.

70 is around 2500-2600 rpms in 5th gear, T45 tranny. I believe later mid 2001-2004 GT's use the T3650 and that means your rpms will be a little lower. If your gonna drive 80+ majority of the time, then don't bother with 4.10's.

yeah those vids are still there but i alos agree with a few people here even though it does get brought up most newbies dont know whats a good first mod and bring it up but hey im here to help out so

and for those who cant decide if they want the 1/4 mile advantage of 4.1's or freeway advantage of 3.73's, theres a middle ground most dont wander into cause its Motive territory. get a set of 3.90's and a good install and have the best of both worlds. i plan on doing gears and rear deep dishes(10.5 wide) as soon as bills are payed (paint, new gaming rig setup) off.

thats a good idea on the sticky.

if somebody wants to make the graph I will sticky it as long as I check it out to be accurate.

anybody who does 3.73's on a n/a stang is going to be a tad disapointed IMO.

I did 3.73's because I want a kb 1.7L and 4.10's are proabaly a bit deep. I can say though If I was staying n/a I would kicking myself for not going 4.10's

the cruise rpm won't bother you with 4.10's but you will take small milage hit.

the only reson to go 3.73 IMO is gas milage or running out of rpm at the end of the quarter mile. Cruise RPM is not one of them to me. dive the car at say 2700 in 4th it runs smooth.

Whoever does better do it for the T-45, T-3650, and 4R70W with all popular tire sizes like 245, 255, 265, 275, 285, 295, 305, 315 in 45 to 30 increments

4.10 if you are staying n/a I went with 3.73s and wish I went with 4.10s but don't want to take my rearend apart again.

If Ford Rcing made 3.90s, I probabally would have gone that route, but I went 4.10s and I'm glad I did. Although I would like to see what 4.30s are like since I've stayed N/A A LOT longer than I planned! I know 3.73s would have been a big disappointment.

I'd go 3.90s if you're considering adding boost in the near futre to a 2v car, but definately a MINIMUM of 4.10s if you're staying N/A, or have a 3v or 4v 4.6 with boost.

I had 3.73's,and they were find,now i have 4.10's,and i wish i did them in the first place.damien2003gt told me fom the start when i was first deciding on which gear to get 2 years ago,to get 4.10's.Now he says!!!!..."I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!! " So now i paid double in laybour .Do it once,not twice!!!

I did the same thing except I got lucky and my mechanic had 4.10's in his cobra and wanted 3.73's... we even swapped and he did the install for free

I think I am better off for having had both because Now I know I wanted the 4.10's and I wont second guess myself
