Car & set up are in sig. Im still finishing things up but the motor's in the car. Had a few broad questions so I figured Id ask...

Does anyone know what size bolt fits the big holes in the back of the heads (1 on the bottom outer of both) for emissions. Im trying to plug them & this simple task has been hair pulling mainly because the motor's in the car & you cant see anything.

Any good ideas on tightening the balancer without air? Cant seem to hold the motor with anything.

I know, both things should have been done while the engine was on the stand but its in there now.

Those two things aside, all thats left is bolting up the headers, tightening down the carb, hookin up the radiator, fuel line, & dropping the distributer in.

Its starting to get cold here so Im hurrying....

TIA, Jon

Thanks Sleeper. Its got a new clutch too. Having never been run (clutch), sticking it in gear shouldnt mess anything up right??

Also, what starter should go on this motor?? I picked one up for an '86 & it looked just like the old one. Before I put it on today I saw a sticker that said "Highly reccomended to replace the solenoid". Every starter Ive ever put on had the sol. on the starter. I pulled the shield off and there wasnt a sol. on it. I called parts store and they said I needed a '94 starter. This one looks nothing like the old one and has an open (unshielded) sol. on it. The bolt the wire is supposed to hook to is too big & theres an extra wire hanging off that says ignition.

Thanks, Jon

Solenoid on every 86+ Mustang is on the fender in front of the driver's side strut. Around 1992 they changed the starter to a high torque starter that requires a wiring change.

Your starter is the correct one, solenoid is not mounted on it
