Whats up guys
My Low oil light just came on, and I drove it about 6 miles like this at 3k RPM. I know it was stupid but it was late and I wanted to get home.
How low does the low oil light come on at?
How dangerous was what I did? Could I have hurt the bearings much?

I think its alittle more than 1qt but not much more...maybe 2qrts.

Actually, an old racer trick is to run the 5.0 1qrt low to help keep the crank from hitting the oil in the pan and other stuff. I dunno how that applies to the newer fuel injection late model 5.0s though.

Windage does apply to all motors but it's not a practical concern on the street (don't go driving around a qt low in a DD).

What's your dipstick showing? The low oil sensor is kinda flakey so I'm not sure I'd trust it to always come on at the same time.

Good luck Joe.

Yeah, dont do the 1qrt thing on a DD, I was just saying at the track its not SO bad and I would equate a short trip home (just stop at a gas station and get a qrt) as prob. being safe.

Mine comes on at one quart low. I've ran it a bit before like that and it never caused a problem.

Alright, thanks a lot guys.
Actually Hissin, I think actually the oil sensor is actually where I'm leaking (only a little bit though)
I wonder if that has an affect on the sensor itself...I gotta get that replaced.
