What method do you guys use that works for you? I usually tighten till pushrod drags then lock em down but tonight I had multiple rockers on a friends car making noise. Even after tightening another 1/8th, one still slapped a little till it warmed up. I been doing it that way for years and it failed me!

How do yall do it?

When I do them, I make sure the oil system in primed.. Then get the valves closed on the cylinder I am setting,, Set preload to zero lash; no up & down movement with slight drag when you spin it, then 1/2 turn and lock them down....

Same as dragin92gt, except 1/4 of turn. The key is finding zero lash. Some people prefer the up/down method. Some like rotating pushrod until drag is felt.

I prefer the drag method. The instant I feel drag, go 1/4 turn and lock. Mine have been set for 70,000 miles. Haven't had to re-adjust, still quiet as first day.

Thanks all. Looks like i was on the wrong side of drag then.

Maybe its just been awhile and i forgot how i used to do it lol.

BTW, we wasnt drinking then. Cant say that about when we took her apart tho lol.
