A guy i work with has a complete 351W that he got out of a truck, and wants to get rid of for 100 bucks. he took the motor apart to use for his stang, but he totaled that and now just wants a new stang.

the block that i have (306) is cool, but long term i want a turbo motor. are 351W's a good powerplant to build a turbo motor out of? i know ill get lower comp pistons, forged rods etc... but people that ive seen mostly use 302's for turbo applications..

im just wanting some opinions on where i can go with this block

most people use r302 blocks which are very strong. but a 351 would take a decent turbo boost they are also pretty strong.

The better the base you start with the more power you can potentially create.
The 351W block is pretty strong, and will definitely make more power and torque than a 306. You could take the 351 stroke it to a 408 (right combo 500 horses) and build the turbo base off of that. Much better than a 306 in my opinion. I have a NA351W and love it. Don't get a chance to drive it much because of work. If you decide not to go turbo, you still have a great base for just toying around.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
