Is the 9 just if you are constantly on the track and therefore overkill for street and occasional strip? There really is not much difference in price between the 7 and the 9 qt pan. What are your thoughts on the matter?

For what you describe a 7qt. is plenty. While your swapping it out you should think about getting a windage tray.jerry S said:

I would think the 9 qt would have to be bigger in depth or width. Ground clearence could be an issue or header clearence could be a problem if it gets too wide at the bottom.
