I'm in the process of putting in a 180* thermostat....i undid the hose, only to find that my dad accidentally threw away a box that had my tstat ...it's hard to find a place that has the 99 lightning or 96 thunderbird 180* t stat(same part number, ive come to find out), but a Napa store had one.

My question is, how will i go about getting the air out of the system once i hook it back up?? Do i remove the fill cap?? I read something about letting it bubble out. Can anyone help?

Let the car run and let warm up with the cap off (I park uphill when I do this)the water pump should circulate most of the air out.

Leave the fill cap off and turn your heater on high and that should remove all the air. Here is site for the install http://www.stangnet.com/tech/thermostat.html

I fill it up through the T-stat housing then top it up
at the rad hose and fill tank.

I would also drill a hole in the thermostat to reduce cavitation in the motor. this will help your motor cool a lot better.
