Ok, for those that have helped me out on this topic (jrichker, rick91gt, others), i have my updates.
below is a bit of all the wires on the eec relay, just taken out of their harness.

labeled #1: not positive on this one, but could be ground?
labeled #2: injectors (orange) and pin #37 on eec
labeled #3: goes to the alt.
labeled #4: hot at all times

now, where i come to the crossroads is that when i have them all hooked up to the correct spots on my relay (the one from autozone, which could be faulty from the start), it wont fire. BUT, when i have them all connected and slightly move #1 and #2 together, FP primes, and i can hit the turn it over to start.

why does it start when i "jump" the wires? bad relay? i got some "wire drier" from the parts store and some steel brushes and cleaned all the connectors off good and used my needle nose pliers to make sure the connectors are tight.

where should i go?

here is the wiring diagram that jrichker has provided me with a few weeks ago...

Nate, your problem sounds like it's either real simple or real difficult.
Why not goto the ford dealer and just buy a real relay? At least that will elimate the possiblity that the relay was DOA

I can't see the thumbnails w/ the images you have labels on, so that leaves me in the dark.

Kinda obvious and I'm sure you would have done this already, but - you might try to swap EEC relays w/ someone you know w/ a 5.0 and see if that fixes the problem.

Sounds like a bad connection to me - not sure what else would cause it to work when you "move 1 and 2 together"....just thinking out loud...hope this helps, if not, sorry.

Anytime you deal with troubleshooting wiring, you need the wire color codes complete with tracer stripe colors. Once we know what those colors are, we can help you.
