Just as the headline says, I'm getting engine noise through my tweeters. I took out all the Mach 460 stuff and replaced it with components in front, 6x8s in rear, and a 4 channel amp powering everything. When the car is turned on the tweeters buzz. the sound quality seems to go down a bit and when the rpms go up I get a high pitched noise. What would be causing this? I have the rca cables running down the opposite side of the car from the power and turn on cables. can anyone help?

The primary cause of alternator whine is a poor amplifier ground. Make sure the amp's ground is correct, meaning you've stripped the paint to bare metal and use a quality bolt/terminal. Where is the amp grounded now?

I have also found that removing the ground from the harness (on aftermarket radio) and grounding it to the metal behind the radio. This practice has also cured noise problems for me in the past, but check your amp ground first.

Hope this helps,

Alan

alright cool, I'll give that a shot. Where is a good place to ground the amp at? I have the amp attached to the back of the rear seat.
