Getting it back on the road

Hello all. I just signed up here and hope to gain some knowlege. I have been out of Mustangs for about 20 years. I recently aquired the car I learned how to drive in. Its a 66 coupe, 289 2bbl, 3 speed stick. I just pulled the motor and took it to the machine shop. I was thinking about raising the performance a little over stock. I was thinking of an edelbrock performer set up(cam, intake , and carb) Is this the best bang for the buck? All info would be appreciated. ALso, I don't want to alter too much from original.

It is hard to go wrong with a package like that from Edelbrock. I would opt for the RPM version though. But that is just me. Decide what type of driving you want to do and performance level you want, and that should lead you in the right direction.

there are also some really great parts you can chose from to get you the HP you are looking for.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanx for the input. I don't want a high hp car. Just a little more oomph than stock. I have a supercharged Miata for the fast driving. Once I get this car done, I will be looking for a 65-66 fastback to make into something nasty.
