Hey. Putting '89 engine in my '86 GT. I just want to get the car running on the cheap. I will be overhauling, (bearings, rings, gasket set) the engine. Will be using the stock E7 heads for now. Car is a 5-speed. Here is the question; can I run the ANDERSON N-41 cam with the stock heads and 1.6 rockers without clearance issues? Back in the '90's I had an '89 LX that had; Edelbrock intake, big mass air, TB, B-303, 1.6 rockers, long tubes and 4.10 gear with a tremec. Was fun. Not fast, but fun. I just want to get my '86 running again. I will be installing TFS TW heads soon after I get some extra $$. Thanks in advance.

Don't bother with the cam, it will be more of a headache than anything.
Wait until you get new heads. You will probably float valves with e7's.
Besides unless you convert to mass air you will have problems anyway.

Avoid the cam until after you have everything put back together and it is working good with the speed density computer that came with the car. It will greatly simplify any troubleshooting that you will have to do to get it running again. The fewer things you change from the original configuration, the fewer thing you will have to chase if something doesn't work right. Once the car is all back together and running solid, then start the upgrade process with a Mass Air conversation. Get that Mass Air conversion working good, and you have a foundation for further modification.
