I may have to come see that mansion you live in now and that gorgeous LX of yours Brian! Let's all plan a cruise one weekend when the weather gets warm. I'd love to finally meet some of the CT/NJ/MA guys and see some of your cars. Maybe we can make some of those street passes happen too at some point!

I think hangin out with the two josh's street passes are very likely to happen, We could all hit the track sometime too, that'd be a good time, when my car is out of the paint booth i'll be good to go

I can be the flag man...

Yeah now that the weather is turning, and cars should be coming out in a month or two, its much much better!

If I wasn't going away this weekend, the grille would be going non stop, and I would think about starting on the rear end in the car!

Ahhh nothing sucks more than down time on the stang!! I just had a problem with my electric fan setup on the '84 and freaked out! the Spal fan controller box shorted out and fried. I had to put an advance auto parts controller in there temporarily Luckily I'm back in action but still have a ton of work to do on this car, mostly cosmetic stuff to the interior and tuning, plus changing out this camshaft. Big plans...

you can do that with stock lifters yea, and i think I'm going to do this if i run out of RPM this season, but its tough on the stock lifters, they are not very strong, and i talked to a guy on here with an n-111 cam and he swapped valve springs at the beginning of every season with his setup

Yeah the build in particular of Rick's said the valve springs last 1 season and have to be replaced...but that's the price you pay to run 8200rpm. I don't really know if lifters would make a difference in the life of the valve springs would they? I figure for most of us running on the street and an occasional 6-6500rpm rip we should get at least a few years worth vs. an 8500rpm race engine raced a whole season.

personally if i had a motor that could rev to 8200, it would see that alot, nothing like a small block screaming at that kind of rpm, i dont think the lifters would do much for valve spring life, but i wouldnt mind replacing springs every season, cause with solid cams most guys have a backup set of lifters so when they are out for a rebuild they can throw the spares in. i think a set of springs is like 140 bucks, but dont quote me on that.

I'm running the N-91 which has the same lift as the N-111 but a tad less duration. I honestly don't know what my valve springs are but the machine shop guy who did the valve work said they should be good for up to .600 lift. I'm running new stock Ford lifters.

so how high do you rev the motor and where does it peak at?

I've personally had it to a bit over 7k on accident because it broke loose unexpectedly and i don't have a rev limiter. By the time i could react i looked down at the tach and it was shooting past 7k. I bought my engine out of a friend's racecar, and he launched and shifted at 7500rpm. With my heads and duel plane intake i peaked hp at 6300rpm so i don't bother going over 6500rpm. It pretty much flattened out at 6300 and held it so we shut it down.

Oh please, I got ya beat. The motor that's not even in my car has no heads on it, the front end consists of a bare k-member, there's no interior whatsoever, a broken T5 on the bench and the rearend and rear suspension that need to be built aren't even out of the car yet Guess it's time to start wrenchin...
