Getting my stuff put in

As we speak, the gears and pulleys are getting put in. It's been there all day since 9 and the suspense is really killing me, I'm picking her up tom. morning.

Will this car feel totally different, or are my hopes too high.

Also with the gears, I should drive like a grandma for the 1st 100 miles right.

No it WILL feel totally different. Mine did and I only went with 3.73's. I was told to baby it for the first 500 miles to let the gears set properly and then change the rear diff fluid. Once that's done you can slam the **** out of it and really see what the diff is.

No you dont have to drive it like a for 100 miles. As long as its not making any odd sounds or humming, drive it like you normally would. Don't be afraid to feel the increased pull of the 4.10's

I usually just put a couple of heat cycles on em runnin down the road at various speeds ...... not a constant hiway cruise kind of thing ...... before I beat on em.

25 to 50 miles ...... whatever

Done many many sets that way and never had a prob.

Im a better safe than sorry kinda guy, lol.

Well my commute is 50 miles per day so in a week I had put about 300 plus on them. Then I realized that the diff was leaking because they didnt change one of the seals. So I took it back and got it fixed and they did a fluid change at the same time since they had to. Worked out great for me. But I can understand the temptaion to romp on it as soon as you get it back. I was completely babying it either. Just not doing full throttle shifts or revving past 3500. 500 miles prob is WAY over kill but better safe than sorry. I'd say at least 100. And like final 5.0 said make sure and vary the rpm's.

300 for gear installation + 100 for the shim kit, so 400 for gears, and 120 for the pullies, so all together, probably somewhere around 500.

I should have installed the pulleys, but that damn alternator is a bitch, so I decided to just get them installed by the professionals.

Also with the gears, get a really good shop to do it for you. I'm getting a reputable Mustang shop that has been installing gears since 1985.

And you went with 3.73s? Aww man you should have went 4.10.

Those are just installation charges not the cost for the gears and pullies too is it?

Yeah, all installation charges.

Oh and it's still in the shop right now. Only the pulleys were installed yesterday because they had a lot of other Mustangs to work on so the gears are being installled right now.

I want to drive it so bad, I haven't driven it since Friday, and I've been using my dad's van and mom's honda to go to school.

i bught a $20 video on 8.8's and only had to pay for the gears ($139.99), and (69.99) for the pullies. It's better and cheaper to learn to do things yourself IMO...

good to hear you're getting what you wanted.....120 to put some pullies on, 400 to install gears, you may want to shop around some more next time. for that much cash you could have bought all the tools to do that kinda stuff. anyway good for you, good luck man, hope they're done soon

When my mechanic (does work out of his garage) installed the gears in my car, he drove it out of the garage and proceeded to slam the gas and peel out of the driveway. I have no gear noise whatsoever. But that was with Ford Racing gears.

Wow right out of the garage, he romped on it. Really risky...
