Time will tell..

I will be honest with you guys I think the giants found something in film that they could exploit with their defensive line.. they got great jumps on the ball most of the night and put pressure on brady I only saw once before ( 06 season second game agaisnt the dolphins pats got shutout)

they never even touched brady in the dec. game they had to find something..

they played a great defensive game but still it took some luck (Dropped picks) and a horrible missed holding call for the giants to win.. how did the officals miss that TWO patriots were being held from behind.. One guy had his shirt pulled out and the other was getting his arm pulled from behind.. one of the worst case of a missed call in SB history...

I don't know how so many people can call that one of the greatest plays of all time when anybody who knows even football basics can see the two holds..

i wonder what would have been said if that was the pats that got away with two holds on one play that setup the SB winning catch..

i agree with bluffin 95/100 times the pats win that game...
But last sunday was one of the 5 and thats all that matters

I watched the replay to that play a million times and i would HARDLY call that a "worst case call in superbowl history" Its not much of a hold at all, i watched from numerious angles and i've seen MUCH MUCH worse then that. They were pushing and shoving the pats d line around and they couldn't hold on to manning. They had him in there hands and he slipped out, they weren't pulled away, manning wiggled out..

Nobody on TV said anythign about a hold, nobody on espn did, nobody on the radio. I didnt her anyone say anythign about a hold until you and bluffing mentioned it a week later.

Only people in the world making that claim are Pats fans. When you see fans of other teams in agreement, SportsCenter, etc. making that claim it can be addressed at that time. IMO, there was no conclusive holding at all.

Yea, I don't see holding and I am being objective here. That manning was just a sly devil and wiggled out of there. The Giants prepared their butts off for this game and I believe the Pats did also. The Pats defense was doing pretty damn good the entire game and it was only by a couple luckly shots we even got in position for the last two touchdowns. The Pats screwed up the coverage at the end and allowed Burress in single coverage and that was all she wrote.

No choke. The Pats were just beaten by the Giants physical play. The DC studied his opponent better than what the Pats did and they lost. Brady was rattled the entire game which kept us in contention.

OHHH COME ON... mr vax you know football better than that.. You can see one defender on the far side has his arm pulled backward from behind it spun him almost around it was such a hard hold.. the one on the other side was not quite as bad one arm around the neck and the shirt being held.. these were the two players about to sack Eli not some random guys 5 yards away.

Go watch that play... if you think that was not holding your nuts... Of course it's only pats fans making that claim everybody else in the world wanted the pats to loose. Do you think the media wants to really defend the hated pats? Plus that would put a serious hurting on the feel good story of david winning against the hated goliath

BTW it was pointed out to me by a steeler fan I missed it the first time. i was in a panic mode at the time and everything was a blur..

Don't wait for sportscenter or some other clowns to tell you what to think watch the replay yourself and tell me what you see..

But it don't matter the game is long over now and samuel should have had the game winning pick before that happend and they had many other chanes to win that game and blew it..

Everybody in the world except the patriots and the patriot fans got the results they wanted.. We had

Watched it again, specifically looking for the hold. I saw what could have been 1 hold (from the angle of the video it was hard to tell if he was just running after the guy or actually holding him). Otherwise than that, the other hold must of happened in the mash-up; however, like all fouls it is not a foul unless it is called by the official. The ref had a bad angle to look at the pile, so otherwise than that it was just that he was in the wrong position. The video I saw was really grainy so if someone can link a better one I will take a look and offer my take on it.

One week later and the tears and excuses are still flowing.
Bandwagon Pats hater? No, not really. Just tired of hearing about them and would like to see someone else on top. The Giants was cool. The Packers would have been cool, and then see Favre retire. I actually would'nt have minded Payton Manning winning another one. With all his choking, that team should probably have 4 Superbowl's, and then I'd be cheering for them to lose too.

OK, I don't want to get into a feelings hurt type of discussion.
I was looking at some NFL films tonight and found this little gem.
http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d8069f011

It provides a real nice shot of the action on the Eli escape. After Eli escapes the picture doesn't show the gang any more though. However, when Eli is being grabbed & molested, it does show clearly the Pats and Giants players grabbing, twisting, pulling etc. There is no where on it where I can see a Giant that has his hands on a Pats player and preventing the guy from moving by holding him steady.

Take a look.

I definatly didnt see any "worse call in superbowl history" holding by any means...even with the o line they were still allll over manning.. they just couldn't hold on

i didnt the first time either.

Clear holding number 93 seymour and #97 geeen were being held The one on Green was the worse number 69 of the giants pulled his left arm backwards while he was trying to pull manning down.. this hold made green try to take eli down with one hand and manning got away..

The veiw from the far side ( compared to the tv broadcast) does not show it as clear but watch Green closely as he trys to pull manning down from behind.. #69 is pulling green backwards.. That is a hold..

Well it don't matter anyways bad calls and missed calls happen all the time the giants won the game and the season is over now.. No point in arguing over it...

See you guys next season..

I'm not saying it didn't happen, I'm just saying I cannot conclude that from watching the replays. If it did happen, I can understand how it was missed.

Far worse than NOT calling holding is when holding is called and it never happened.

In the 2000 Superbowl, down 7-0, Jesse Armstead of the Giants made a terrific INT of Dilfer's pass, raced past defenders and into the endzone to tie the game.
Oddly, a ref threw a flag and called defensive holding on Keith Hamilton of the Giants. It nulified the play.

We went over the tapes countless times and never saw anything that could have remotely been considered a hold. Nobody gave a chit. It was a turning point in that game.

The reason i was saying one of the worse of all time because of the impact that call had on NFL history.. we both know had holding been called there or if manning got sacked the game would most likely been over..

Missed calls happen all the time My team has benefited and lost because of them it's part of the game and nothing can be done about it..

Do I think the giants benefited from a blown call YES

Do i think the giants got a little lucky ont hat last drive YES

has the patriots has some luck to win SB's in the fianl minutes YES

this is why i still think no matter what the giants deserved the win.. A lot of people forget now but brady got very lucky in the final minutes of SB38 he almost threw a pick that would have won the game for carolina..

This is what makes football a great game and it's biggest fault at the same time depending on what team you are a fan of..

Unlike the other major sports the championship and history can come down to a few plays or even one bad play.. This is what makes the game so exciting and frustrating at times..

At the end of this game I was frustrated but it sure was exciting as any SB should be

A lot of history changed with that final drive the 2007 giants had, for the rest of their lives they will be heros in NY and to much of the football world while the 2007 patriots will be left to think the rest of their lives what could have been.

Sad thing is even if the pats won with all this spygate stuff and how much belichick is hated they never would have gotten full credit for a perfect season had it happend. So maybe now that they lost we can all get over the whole thing and just enjoy football next season

one other bad thing is the overall record of this patriot dynasty.. The great dynasties of the past such as the niners and the steelers may have not won the SB every year but they won it everytime they went to it.. this team and this coach can no longer claim that..

it's kind of ironic how

the patriots beat up a much better rams team with a great offense to win the first SB they won...
and then

the giants beat up a much better patriots team with a great offense to win the SB..

We have come full circle from 2001...

I too heard the comparisons to the 2001 SB. Even before the game they said the Giants were in the NE role, with the Pats in the Rams role.
I rooted like hell for the Pats in that game! Hated the Rams.

many people wanted the pats to win that game.. Wow I can't beleive how full circle the pats have come in 7 years

If it was not my team you guys beat i would be very happy for you.. I remember how surprised i was when the pats pulled off the huge upset in SB36 hell i was surprised that they even got to the SB let alone win it..

That year I almost stopped watching games because I thought the season was over when Bledsoe went down.. that was about as wrong as i ever been..

Lil tidbit about that SB. Belichick did admit he took the Giants vs. Rams game that year and studied it b/c the Giants effectively shutdown the Rams attack (but still lost). The "secret" (courtsey John Fox) which the Giants finally mastered the following year, was to use extreme physical force on their w/r's. AND most importantly, pummel Marshall Faulk every time he touched the ball. Make him crippled and hurting (legally of course.) Belichick prepared for the Rams that year by having his D do similar.

The only reason I can think of or heard why people wanted the Giants to win (or more correctly, the Pats to lose) was because of:
1. a large number of pompous bandwagon fans (like the one we have here)
2. undefeated status
3. perception of Belichick as a mean person
4. perception of cheating
5. people like to side with the underdog when they have no prior allegence

So what. F'em. Next year the Pats will be back, changed but back, and I strongly believe the Giants as a team are making positive strides in making the team better.

Like the Steelers after their win a few years back , every team will be gunning for them. They are on the radar now. We will see how good they are. I think that they are gonna be competitive at the least or pretty damn good for a long time

Gotta disagree. I think they will be a 10-6 team at best for the foreseeable future.

I can give you a good estimate the week before the season starts. So much can happen between now & then.

If they go 10-6 again and just go on the warpath and beat everyone in the playoffs again, I'd could live with that.

Very funny simple Superbowl poem

if you think about it. I read it, passed by then thought about what it really is saying. Then I got a little chuckle. Maybe you will too:

.
.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Plax in the endzone,
Hobbs at the two.
